This 1954 Chevrolet 3100 five-window pickup was extensively modified around 2010, riding on a boxed frame with a Plymouth Volare-sourced front end. It is powered by a 383ci ZZ V8 paired with a 700R4 automatic transmission and a Ford 9″ rear end with 3.70 gears. Finished in red with a mahogany wood bed and chrome trim, the truck features Cragar SS wheels, 11″ front disc brakes, Vintage Air climate control, power windows, and an Alpine stereo. The current owner acquired it in 2011, and it is offered with records and an Arizona title.
The exterior features replaced rear fenders, box, running boards, and floorboards, all repainted by Color Works Auto Refinishing. Additional updates include a chrome front bumper, new weather seals and glass, and a custom rear bumper sourced from a 1978 El Camino that has been narrowed and re-chromed. The tailgate includes bowtie pinstriping, hidden latches, and cables, while the mahogany bed is separated by chrome strips and features a flush fuel filler for the stainless-steel fuel tank. A battery jump post is located under the right-side running board, and a battery disconnect is positioned behind the right seat.
The frame was boxed and fitted with a front end sourced from a Plymouth Volare. Chassis Engineering rear springs, Bilstein shocks, power steering, and stainless-steel brake lines were added, along with 11″ front disc brakes. The truck rides on 15″ Cragar wheels mounted with BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires.
The interior is equipped with bucket seats featuring inner armrests, a custom console with an emergency brake, and an Alpine stereo. Vintage Air climate control, power windows, and custom carpeting have also been installed. The Lecarra steering wheel is mounted on a color-matched Ididit column, and the replacement odometer shows 27k miles, with approximately 11k miles added by the current owner.
The 383ci ZZ V8 features a polished-aluminum intake manifold, a Holley carburetor, powder-coated exhaust manifolds, and a dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers. Additional components include a Zoops front-runner serpentine kit, an Afco aluminum radiator, a Haywire wiring harness, and chrome accessories. The spark plugs and valve cover gaskets were replaced in 2023.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a 700R4 automatic transmission linked to a Ford 9″ rear end with 3.70 gears, installed in 2020. The truck is also equipped with a transmission cooler and is ready for further use or customization.
